Grant, I saw a homestudy course advertised that was cheaper than yours! Any comments on that?
If you are considering a cheaper advertised option, then I strongly suggest you call them (after calling me of course) and have a chat with the provider. 

• Firstly to ascertain that the course provider actually exists! 
• And also to find out whether it is a stuctured course written by the provider, or just a collection of copied handouts or recordings.
• Is there any examination and subsequent Certificate?
  
• Make sure the person you speak with is the course tutor and that he/she has an honest passion and dedication to assisting you into the Hypnotherapy profession.
• Can they match my support?

How long will it take to complete the Homestudy Hypnotherapy course?
It depends on the time you dedicate to your study and to practising your new techniques and complete the two open-book examinations.  Most people take 1-3 months of spare time, but some do it in as many weeks (especially those who already have similar skills such as counselling or natural therapies).  I expect that most will complete the course in the allowed 12 months, but if you do need longer, then I approve most extensions. 

What's involved in completing the examinations?
Drawing on my experience as an examiner for the NZ Association of Professional Hypnotherapists (NZAPH), I have designed an examination structure that enables me to very accurately evaluate each student's competence as a new Hypnotherapist. 

The examination is split into 2 parts (one for each of the 2 modules in the textbook). In total, there are 24 Hypnotherapy related questions contained in the examinations and most of the answers should be drawn from the course textbook and actual experience, with some small requirement for extra research.  Included in the examination there is a requirement for a client case study and a full (induction to awakening) Modern Suggestive Hypnotherapy script. Is Modern Suggestive Hypnotherapy sufficient to deal with most clients?
Yes it certainly is. It's the safe, modern way of assisting more clients to a positive solution for more issues.  It's the main style I use myself in my own clinic with extraordinarily fantastic results - helping people to move forward and make the changes necessary to facilitate their desired advancements. You'll find (as I have) that Suggestive Hypnotherapy is far more acceptable in this modern world - and that it's pretty darned effective for the majority of your clients.

Should I undertake further training after completing the Homestudy Course?
The choice is totally yours.  You will certainly have be taught enough to practice competently as a Hypnotherapist using Modern Suggestive Hypnoptherapy! But if you do choose to further your knowledge, then my 5 Day Practical Hypnotherapy Course is the best you'll find anywhere - and there is also an Advanced course for once you've been practicing a while.  Plus, there is a generous loyalty discount if you enrol in another Hypnosis New Zealand Hypnotherapy Course! 

What are the regulations for practicing Hypnotherapy in NZ?
There are none! (Well, none that are specific to Hypnotherapy anyway.)  As long as you're practicing ethically and safely, meeting local and national requirements for your premises and general business practices (such as OSH, IRD, HDC, etc.) then you can legally practice as a Hypnotherapist in NZ.  (Of course you'll need to learn how to do it first!)

[NB.  There is no legal requirement to possess any specific Hypnotherapy training or certification in NZ to set up practice as a Hypnotherapist - and in my opinion there never will be!  After all, it's a safe, non-invasive, natural therapy that is a joy to provide and to receive.]

Should I join one of the NZ Hypnotherapy Associations?
Again the choice is totally yours. Most will welcome you as a junior member, which will give you access to their extra training seminars and mentoring.  If you would like to join an association, then contact me after completing the course and I'll arrange for you to be sent a membership pack from the NZAPH, IHPS, or similar association.

These are advanced memberships and qualifications requiring advanced training and experience.]

Grant, what support do you offer me, as one of your Hypnotherapy students?
As a student of my Homestudy Hypnotherapy Course, you have 12 months free email and telephone support as you require it. (Extensions usually freely granted when required.)  I believe (and my past students will vouch for it) that mine is the very best support package in NZ.

Emails are generally replied to within a few hours - in fact only minutes if your question comes in while I'm at the computer (which is very often).  I also welcome your phonecalls (prearranged wherever possible) and I'll assist you with anything connected with your course study and practice.

Also, there is the Hypnosis New Zealand Peer Support Network that is made up of many past students.  They are there to help you and in some cases be helped by you.  It's called sharing!  :>)  We're all in Hypnotherapy together!

Grant, what practicing restrictions do you put on your students while they are training?
Absolutely none! Modern Suggestive Hypnotherapy is a safe natural therapy. It's not rocket science!  When you feel you have learned enough to begin practicing on others, then you can probably help them to improve.  Remember that all Hypnosis is actually Self Hypnosis!  You are simply a facilitator.  You help others to help themselves in ways they want to be helped.  After all, if Hypnosis was a means of control, our jails and richlists would be full of Hypnotists - and if Hypnotherapy was dangerous, it would be legislated by government!
